Description
When building a traditional ceiling under timber joists, Resilient Bars are built to provide better acoustic insulation. Mineral wool can also be used in the floor cavity to enhance acoustic efficiency. Screws locking the plasterboard must not come into contact with the joists in order to achieve optimum sound insulation.
For single or double board applications, resilient bar is mounted at right angles to the joists at 450mm maximum centres. Since the resilient bars are usually used for 1800mm boards, the fixing centres for the bars must be reduced to 400mm if 2400mm boards are used. To enhance acoustic performance, durable bar may be used in the construction of metal or timber stud walls.
