Office Doors
Buildingmaterials.co.uk offers a range of office doors and a bespoke door manufacturing service. The range of door facings includes natural wood veneers, including FSC / PEFC veneers, CPLs (Continuous Pressure Laminate), paint grade veneers and high pressure laminates.
Our standard range of doors include eight natural wood veneers, four CPL finishes and paint grade doors which are available in various standard sizes.
Doors in a range of standard sizes are available in the following natural wood veneers:
Sapele - Millions upon millions of square metres of Sapele veneer have been produced over many years and this versatile species has been used for just about everything possible. There is a steady demand for both crown and straight-grain material so the logs are frequently cut on the stay-log machine or they may be quartered.
American White Oak - This very popular type of Oak is used for many purposes including furniture, doors, shopfitting and other interior work. The colour range may be fairly broad, from a pale yellowy biscuit to mid brown, with the lighter shades generally being the most sought after. The logs are often smaller in diameter than those of Red Oak and European Oak and are usually flat cut to produce as much crown veneer as possible. Good straight-grained material is acheived by rift cutting selected larger logs.
Ash - Both European and American white Ash veneer are really quite similar in appearance. The logs are usually flat cut to produce crown and straight-grained material.
Koto - The logs are mostly quarter cut with only occasional crown production. Koto is commonly used in plywood manufacture and as a backing veneer. Good face quality material is sometimes used for furniture and shopfitting.
Steamed Beech - For steamed Beech veneer, the logs are cooked in the usual way and this changes the colour to a light pink to pinky brown. Large quantities of this veneer are consumed by all branches of the woodworking industry, and it is used extensively on furniture, doors, other interior joinery and for shopfitting.
Maple - Very popular furniture veneer in its usual unsteamed plain flat cut form. Maple commonly displays small light brown marks often referred to as “sugar” and it is not always easy to find material that is completely devoid of this characteristic. When figured, the logs may also be flat sliced but, depending on the type of figure, they may be rotary cut (peeled)
American Cherry - Hugely popular for many years now, this veneer has been a favourite for furniture and interior joinery work, shopfitting etc., sometimes being stained to the colour of Mahogany. Usually flat sliced to produce as much crown material as possible. Has a lustrous appearance but frequently contains gum or resin pockets. Some logs yield figured veneer in varying degrees from a light shimmer to a very pretty strong mottle. American Cherry darkens very quickly on exposure.
Paint Grade - Paint Grade Plus doors are simple and minimalistic in appearance with a smooth high density face to ensure doors have the optimum base for a high quaility painted finish and carry full PEFC chain of custody certification.
